Friday the 13th

This wasn’t the post I originally had scheduled for today, but when I woke up this morning and saw these two big eyes staring at me — I’d left this on the table for my husband to see — I realized this black cat would be perfect for Friday the 13th.

Cat

Not that I’m superstitious or anything. I’m not. But I am a cat lover, and black cats have an almost magical beauty about them.

This cat is far from finished — it’s a scratchboard project I only began last night — and, in truth, it will be more white than black when completed. Yet seeing those eyes peering out of the darkness…well, I had to post this today.

Happy Friday the 13th!

  1. I love this cat. ❤
IMHO I wouldn't finish it. There's some magic in this picture.

  2. Really nice start, I like this a lot. We had a black cat who recently passed and black animals are so hard to draw. I like this way, maybe I could bring him to life on a scratchboard. Nice one. 💜

  3. I love this too, just as it is. The missing parts make it mysterious, which is just right.

    • I think I’m going to keep this “unfinished”. I have more scratchboard, so I can always do another one. This one just does have a mysterious feeling about it that I really like. Thanks for sharing your thoughts about it.

At the same time cute and little bit scary. Cats are awesome and this artwork shows it well. Fine job and thank you for following me.
