Those are the opening words of a Foreigner song, and I’ve been singing them lately. I’ve been waiting — quite impatiently — for the official Inktober 2020 prompt list. As the lyrics suggest, I didn’t know what I would find, and yes, it was only a matter of time.
Now, finally, after checking and double-checking my emails every day and making frequent visits to Jake Parker’s website, I have the confounded thing! And yes, I find it confounding because some of these prompt words are real doozies!
Here it is, folks:
With the unveiling of the Inktober prompts, it’s time for me to get serious about what I’m going to do. I’m still undecided, and thankfully I have a few weeks left, so here’s hoping that Cheeky Monkey Mind and I will figure this all out. Yes, Cheeky has to be part of Inktober. Chasing him around the internet last October was exasperating at times, but mostly it was a lot of fun, and I learned a lot through it all.
Note: If you’re new to the blog, you haven’t yet met Cheeky. Just browse back through posts from last October, and you’ll see who he is and what a merry chase he led me on as we inked our way through 31 days of drawing!
I want to incorporate alcohol inks — I think. I might want to do landscapes — I think. Or maybe I want to work with poetry or quotations — I think.
I think… therefore I am CONFUSED! But at least the waiting is over. I can stop wondering about the prompt list and start focusing on whatever preparations I need to make for the upcoming event. I’ve been gathering up my pens, my inks, my drawing papers. Now, if only I could come up with a plan!
ARE YOU PARTICIPATING IN INKTOBER? IF SO, PLEASE LET ME KNOW!
