How many times have you received a postcard from someone traveling on vacation? Maybe postcards aren’t as popular now as they once were, but most of them invariably said those words: “Wish You Were Here.”
With this watercolor painting I’m sharing today, I have no idea where “here” is, but I like the scene. If you look closely, you’ll see a lot of my pencil marks, and when I first drew this out I was planning on using a very monochromatic color scheme. Then, as I began painting it, I changed my mind and added more colors.

Once it dried, I scanned it, and I laughed when I looked at the image. My first thought was “Wish You Were Here” because it reminded me so very much of an old picture postcard. As a child, I collected postcards.
I actually like the way this turned out. I was playing with dry brush techniques and a few other techniques as well, such as having two different colors on my brush at the same time.
It was a fun little watercolor, and I’m happy with it. So, greetings from somewhere! Having a wonderful time… wish you were here!
It reached me here in Texas and it very hot here!

Stay cool! We’re actually having mornings in the 60’s with highs in the mid-80’s. That’s refreshing for Missouri in mid-August.

This is quite nice. I like mountain scenes, probably because I have always lived on the plains.
