I thought this was an interesting question, but I had absolutely no clue about the right answer. Do you know?
Name the type of sculpture that represents a person dying or in death.
- Gisant
- Figurehead
- Kouros
- Acrolith
I’ll see you back here at noon (CDT) — yep, Daylight Savings Time has begun — for a look at the correct answer.
Gisant is a figure portraying a figure in active dying. I had wondered about Kouros too but that refers to a sculpture that stands near a grave often, I believe.

At noon I give the definitions for all of the terms. Except for “figurehead”, I wasn’t familiar with any of them.
